N.Carolina Harp Trip 2008

Sharon Thormahlen and I attended the SE Harp Weekend held October 8-12, 2008 at Lutheridge Conference in Arden, NC. Afterward we explored Black Mtn on the Blue Ridge, then Atlantic Beach before heading to the Jenkins family farm in Trenton, NC.
Beautiful new vendor hall!

Let's get started unpacking!
The hall is full of harps... the Thormahlen's are on the right.
Let the tuning begin!
Sharon and I take a "playing break." (I'm on a Cherry Cygnet and Sharon is on the Pineapple Koa Swan.)
The booth is taking shape.
Sharon's new book has our Birds of Blue Ridge composition in it, which we wrote 2 years ago at this same conference!
Sweepin' the Clouds Away is Sharon's 8th book.
Friday afternoon was the Harp Tasting - 18 harps participated.
Cathy Chanuk and Sharon watch Annalee Foster demonstrate the new Thormahlen Ceili harp.
A mini-Irish session draws attention to our booth!
Some awesome harpers test out the Ceili.

Perfect ending to a great dinner shared all around.
Cabin Creek Lodge and Cabins in Black Mountain, NC
Our cabin was right on the creek!
Sharon and I got into a composing frenzy and played harps well into the wee hours. Prelude for Peace was hatched here!
Supper's ready!
Sharon and I worked on our song everywhere - even at the Mt. Pisgah lookout on the Blue Ridge Parkway!
On October 15th - Debate Day - we drove 8 hours across the state. We stopped in Monroe, NC at the DNC to check out what was happening.
