- Prelude for Peace
- In the fall of 2009, Sharon Thormahlen and I published our ensemble composition, Prelude for Peace. We wrote this work while traveling together in North Carolina in late October 2008. In it we attempted to capture the flow of peace, beginning with the ringing of bells - a universal symbol of peace. As other instruments and finally voices are added, the peace is passed from one to many, flowing out into the world. This YouTube video is of the Ecumenical Choir and Pilgrim Handbell Choir of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Port Harwich, MA.

About Harps
- Get Lessons Now
- A great resource for students looking for music teachers --- also for teachers to find students!
- Thormahlen Harps
- Dave Thormahlen designs and builds harps from a variety of woods that are of exceptional quality, both in sound and appearance. Sharon plays, composes and arranges music for Celtic harp, and has published several wonderful books of harp music. Dave built both of my harps. My website features my koa Swan which has a beautiful, bell-like tone quality. I use it for most weddings and performances. My black harp is a Serenade, also with a lovely voice. Several pounds lighter than my koa harp, it goes with me to all my therapy sessions. Both are 36-string harps.
- Birds of Blue Ridge - Thormahlen Harps
- Sharon Thormahlen and I composed a piece for harp during our 2006 trip to the Southeast Harp Conference in Asheville, NC. In 2008, Sharon's book 'Sweepin' the Clouds Away' made its debut at the same conference. In it she published my ensemble arrangement of 'Birds of Blue Ridge' for 3 harps and cello, as well as her solo arrangement of our song! Be sure to read the notes about the many kinds of birdsongs used in the piece!
- Reigning Harps On-line Newsletter
- The Reigning Harps Newsletter comes out monthly. It publishes a listing of concert dates, harps for sale, a harp teacher directory, and lots of other information - all about harps in the Pacific Northwest. On this site you can listen to my harp ensemble arrangement for "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear" which was the featured music for the Winter 2007-8 issue. In addition, my arrangement of "Silent Night" for flute and 3 harps was featured in the Winter 2009 issue.
- (ISFHC) Folk Harp Journal
- The International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen publishes a magazine called the Folk Harp Journal. It is full of interesting articles and always contains several pieces of music. In December 2007 they published several seasonal pieces and included my arrangement of "In the Bleak Midwinter."
